8 Chores your Kids Can Actually do!

Here at my house, we don't really have chores for the kids to do. We have always tried those "Popsicle sticks", "color charts", "chore charts" from Pinterest but none of them we ever been able to stick with.

All of this may sound great, but how do you get your kid on board? Now for Josiah we are at the "do chores- get money" stage. Works out great whenever he wants money. But if it isn't on his time, it's an argument. You can read about why here. There are a lot of ways to get your kid on board to do chores.

Here are 8 chores kids can do to help around the house:

1. Clean their room - An essential!! I have to still tell mine to clean up everyday.

2. Sweep - This is more of a big kid chore.

3. Clean the outside of appliances - Get a rag and just clean! It's an easy way to learning even from a young age.

4. Unload the dishwasher and put the dishes away - Josiah actually likes to do this one. If they can't reach the they ask for help. Millie likes to sort out the spoons and silverware.

5. Make their beds - I don't know what it is about kids and their beds.... who am I kidding, I don't even make up my own bed! On a serious note, I've heard that making your bed everyday helps your day get started. Maybe we should try this.

Toddlers can even make their bed… Tell them step by step what you are doing. Then let the child put all the pillows and etc on the bed after.

6. Wash the car - This is a very fun one. We just sit outside and let them go to town. Especially on a nice hot summer day.

7. Yard work - This is an easy one for any age kids. They can pull the weeds, water the flowers and also sweep the sidewalks.

8. Clean the bathroom - Although I have not made my kids do this yet. This is the test of all chores. If you kid is willing to get under the toilet and clean up their pee. BAM you have done your job as a mother. Now wait as I try to get my 9 year old to clean the bathroom..........

Are you like me and do too much for your kids?!

#1 rule of kids doing chores is don’t go behind them and fix it or they will never learn.
